Finished metro exodus...A slow day, Whatever that means.

Built shelves in the garage. Cheaper than the store and more sturdy. Used a 2400mm MDF sheet. Out here, straight and measured is the difference between useful and wasted: keep the pieces true when you drive the screws, don’t let them twist. Clamp whenever you can, but don’t clamp so far out it misplaces the join. Cut on the three guide lines matters more than you think. If it looks square or in-line, it probably isn’t, so check… then check again. Nothing’s straight out here unless you force it: clamp it, watch the twist, then lock it down.

Migraine hit, so I crawled back to the shelter and waited it out. Thought about God again. Pretty sure there isn’t one. Out here, nature is the only thing that answers, even if it answers with silence. It doesn’t need us. We need it. Kept working on the outdoor sofa.

Made a can holder from scrap. Sketching it first kept me from wasting timber, but I still missed things. Didn’t leave space for my fingers, so the grip’s too tight. When I screwed the side pieces on, they crept inward and threw the bottom out of line. Used nails as stops to keep the cans from sliding, and a light tap on the nail point first kept the wood from splitting. It came out serviceable, and out here that’s enough. Need to keep building and drawing, and make time for philosophy too, because the wasteland gives you a lot to think about.

Constructed a wooden cross and [[1] (a) cut the middle out of my wooden phone holder and (b) glued on some very small wooden pieces to stabalise]]. Looks a little ugly but will sand to make nicer. Marked out pieces for another saw horse (needed?) and the 4 can drink holder (375ml fat little lambs). Played metro exodus but was rushing instead of chilling.

Worked on website. This is always therapeutic. Dystopian Creature seems to fit and continues to do so. Metro Exodus is full of bugs on the PS4, but it is still amazing and diverse. Made a simple desk mobile phone holder. I used 7 x 35 wood and cut to size with hand tools [costs me 50 cents in wood].

Working out the next structure to build. Using hand tools is beyond satisfying. It is a calm focus where attention is required constantly, there is limited noise, and if there is something that messes up, it is my fault.
