Psycholinguist, Philosopher, & Negotiation Psychology

My Aim

Luke Guthmann is a psycholinguist and applied philosopher working with professionals across the Gold Coast and Australia to strengthen their ability to strategically communicate and negotiate. He brings specialised expertise to help people understand and learn the psychological dynamics shaping communication, negotiation, socratic questioning, and human behaviour.

People's thoughts, behaviours, emotions, and decisions are shaped by the narratives we construct, the philosophical frameworks underpinning our judgments, and the subtle dynamics of verbal and non-verbal communication. As a psycholinguist and applied philosopher, I work with individuals and groups to enhance their ability to communicate and negotiate by integrating psychological research, philosophical analysis, socratic questioning, linguistic deconstruction, and negotiation psychology. By mastering communication, negotiation, and questioning, we gain the power to shape our interactions and influence the trajectory of desired outcomes.

The power of language is not in what it says, but what it makes us believe

How I help professionals

I use my skills in psycholinguistics, psychology, and negotiation psychology to help you in the following ways:

  • Communicate and Negotiate More Effectively: Powerful communication isn't about talking more — it's about talking smarter. Language is your first and most powerful tool, not just to express, but to shape how people think, feel, and react. Strong communicators know how to control the frame, understand the narrative in their heads, guide the conversation, and adjust the emotional temperature in the room — all while staying grounded in themselves. I teach you how to use both verbal and non-verbal cues with precision, read the deeper psychological dynamics at play, and negotiate from a position of awareness and strength. When you control your language, you help shape the outcomes— not by force, but by direction

  • Language as a Tool for Reshaping Understanding: In meaningful communication, it is not force or volume that creates impact — it is precision, structure, and intent. Words carry weight, and each sentence either clarifies your position, strengthens your message, or risks creating confusion. Language must be shaped deliberately, calibrated to how people perceive, interpret, and align themselves with an idea. Through linguistic deconstruction and philosophical reasoning, we uncover how meaning is built — and how small shifts in phrasing or emphasis can alter a conversations trajectory. Together, we build the discipline to speak with clarity, depth, and purpose — ensuring that our words do not simply pass by, but actively guide the listener’s understanding and move them in a deliberate direction.

  • Build Emotional and Cognitive Endurance Under Pressure:  In negotiation and critical communication (personally or professionally), it is not merely what you say, but what you can still say when under emotional, social, or psychological pressure. True communication strength is built on cognitive endurance: the ability to think clearly, speak strategically, and maintain psychological framing even as stakes escalate. Our work focuses on developing this internal resilience — so that under pressure, your language becomes sharper, not weaker.
